Porthleven

Porthleven is on of those easily missed Ports if you travel from Helston to PENZANCE 4 miles west of HELSTON it is a very lovely seaside port and harbour with Gift shops, Restaurants and pubs.

Porthleven has been used in many films an TV series

And who can forget the dramatic Pictures of the 1987 storm that battered the Cornish coast and the pictures of waves as high as the Harbour clock.

Luckily I was higher when I took this photo and it was a good day.

You can see the clock tower at the beginning of the pier When I used to visit Cornwall before I ever Moved here I used to pick up my Fishing bait from the little Angling shop on the harbour side.

There is also a really good fresh fish shop and a mini market.

The Harbour has many restaurants harbour side pubs.

When we stayed at Golden Sands ourselves we used to walk to Porthleven using the South west Coast Path have Fish and Chips and then walk back. Its a real trek but worth it.

Owners of boats can also hire the slipway to launch their craft here. But you need a good winch as the Slipway is long slippery and steep.

There are also some Art Galleries, Arts and Crafts Shops & a rummage type second hand shop.

The Harbour inn has a regular live band on Saturday nights. Sometimes the music is very loud so be warned, the kind of music is 'Pot luck' and 'on the night'.

The big white building is Hoskins builders merchants across the road there is (or was) a regular Thursday Summer Morning Boot Fair at the Rugby Club
